Tiger had that killer look
about walking off the 18th
green. “I like the position I’m
in,” he said. As Geoff Ogilvy
pointed out: “The winner will be
the guy who is going backwards
the slowest late Sunday.”
Going backwards fast was
Michael Thompson. The over-
night leader took just four holes
to surrender his four-shot lead.
He hung on to finish 1 over.
Meanwhile, 17 was the new 14.
While 14-year-old Andy Zhang’s
adventure came to an end ( 17
over), 17-year-old amateur
Beau Hossler briefly held the
lead of the championship before
settling down at 3 over.
The 36-year-old professional
Woods has the lead now. He
can smell No. 15. “I’ve won my
fair share of majors,” he said. “I
