Westwood Rolls In Stockholm
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN | Lee Westwood won
his third Nordea Masters title Saturday in
resounding fashion, posting a five-shot victory
over countryman Ross Fisher at Bro Hof Slott.
In claiming his 22nd European Tour victory, the world No. 3 heads to San Francisco’s
Olympic Club with plenty of confidence as he
prepares to make his 57th attempt at a first
major championship.
So dominating was Westwood from tee
to green all week, he could afford to miss
five putts from inside six feet over the
first 10 holes of his closing 69.
Westwood previously won this
championship in 1996 and 2000,
the latter lifting him atop the
world rankings.
“It feels really special
winning here another
time – I’ve won it in three
decades now which just
shows how old we’re
getting.” Westwood
said. “I played really
well this week – you
don’t win tourna-
ments by five shots
without playing well.”
Westwood posted
scores of 68, 64, 68 and 69
for a 72-hole total of 19-un-
der 269. He earned €250,000.
Fisher, posting his second con-
secutive high finish, closed with a
71 and a 274 aggregate.
“I missed a few short putts on
the front nine, had a lot of chances
the first 10 holes and could have really put
some breathing space between me and the
field,” Westwood, 39, said.
