Last year, Wie made the cut in all four majors,
including a sixth at the Kraft Nabisco.

One golfer who wasn’t too terribly disap-
pointed she missed the cut was Jenny Shin.
Shin made a hole in one on No. 17 and won a
2012 Kia Optima Limited. She made the ace
with a 5-hybrid from 176 yards.
It was a career highlight that almost didn’t
happen. Sweden’s Liselotte Neumann fulfilled
a major goal when she was named captain of
the 2013 European Solheim Cup team.
“It’s definitely going to be right there at the
top,” Neumann said. “I’ve had a great career,
and I think the Solheim Cup for me obviously
has a lot of highlights. Representing Europe
and Sweden has meant a lot to me, so I’m
definitely ranking this at the very top.”
Ironic since Neumann requested her name
be taken out of consideration.
“I found out in November I was put on the
list and considered to be a captain,” said
Neumann. “I was kind of at that time thinking
about maybe doing a little bit of coaching or
teaching. I’m taking some nutrition classes and
I sort of had all these plans that I was going to
sort of move forward with.”
Several European players lobbied on her
behalf and she reconsidered and was named.
“I think getting those notes from some of the
players, I think, really sort of got me thinking
again, am I going to miss out on this if I don’t do
this,” Neumann said. “I might never get the

Golf Channel and the LPGA Tour announced a
three-year extension of the network’s exclusive
rights to the Kraft Nabisco Championship, the
season’s first major championship.
Golf Channel viewership for its inaugural
coverage of the Kraft Nabisco Championship in
2011 had the tournament’s highest-rated and
most-watched first round in 18 years, which
was followed by a second round that was the
highest in 17 years.
The Kraft Nabisco will be one of two major
championships Golf Channel will exclusively
air. The other is the LPGA Championship. l
