France Sweeps European Nations Cup
France won both the men’s and women’s
team titles Saturday at the European Nations
Cup at Sotogrande, while France’s Celine
Boutier on the women’s side and Holland’s
Robin Kind, Norway’s Kristoffer Ventura and
Spain’s Jon Rahm-Rodriguez on the men’s
shared individual honors.
The men’s French squad of Edouard Espana,
Mathieu De Cottignies, Adrien Saddier and
Kenny Subregis posted an 872 total over four
days with three scores counting each day. Hol-
land placed second on 877.
The Irish team of Alan Dunbar, Niall Gorey,
Dermot McElroy and Reeve Whitson shared
fourth place with Portugal at 881. Wales fin-
ished 12th in the 17-team field.
The French women’s team, led by Boutier,
who lost in the finals of last year’s British Girls’
Championship at Gullane, was a runaway win-
ner with a 581 total. Germany finished on 595.
England placed 10th in the 11-team field.
Kind, Ventura and Rodriguez tied on 286
in the individual event. Ireland’s Whitson and
McElroy posted top- 10 finishes, at T5 and 10th,
respectively. Welshman James Frazer tied for
12th.
Boutier won by three strokes on a 291 total.
England’s leading individual player was
Rachel Drummond (310) in joint 14th place.
