Whoever said youth is wasted on the young hasn’t met Cheng-Tsung Pan. In his
freshman season at the University of Washington, Pan earned his first collegiate
title in just his second event, firing a final-round 65 to win The Prestige at PGA
West. In four events played, he has recorded three top- 10 finishes. Last year, Pan,
No. 9 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, played in the U.S. Open at Congres-
sional, finished T2 at the Sahalee Players Championship and was a semifinalist
at the Western Amateur. Also, at the age of 15, Pan became the youngest U.S.
Amateur quarterfinalist since Bobby Jones, and in 2009 Pan became the young-
est medalist in Western Amateur history.
