Luke Williams, senior director
of global woods and irons at Cal-
laway Golf, isn’t the least bit shy
when he describes the company’s
new RAZR XF irons and hybrids,
First, he laps hearty praise on
the irons.
“They are the most premium
ones in our line, and they not only
have the highest MOI (moment of
inertia) of any iron we have de-
signed but also incorporate the
best iron technologies Cal-
laway has developed over
the years,” Williams says.
As for the hybrids,
he lauds them for
the ways that larger
heads and added
offset help to
deliver higher,
longer and
straighter shots.
“And they inte-
grate nicely with
the irons to give
golfers a super
game-improve-
ment set of
clubs that maxi-
mize distance
and forgiveness,”
Williams adds.
The RAZR XF iron
boasts a forged, 1025
carbon steel body
that is designed
to provide
softer, more
responsive
feedback at impact.
The clubface is made of thin,
high-strength 455 Carpenter steel
intended to generate faster ball
speeds for greater distances. And
it is lighter, so Callaway engi-
neers were able to place addition-
al weight in the perimeter of the
clubhead. That’s where the RAZR
XFs get their increased MOI,
which enhances forgiveness.
According to Williams, an
aluminum and injection-molded
thermoplastic medallion improves
sound and feel, while a dark, PVD
( Physical Vapor Deposition) finish

material medallion. They also
feature Callaway’s proprietary
VFT technology, which controls
face thickness in order to create a
larger sweet spot and higher ball
speeds for more distance. And the
clubs are built with a so-called
Zero Roll Design so they may
produce a higher launch angle
on shots hit low on the face, to
bolster distance and encourage
softer landings on greens.
The Callaway RAZR XF irons
and hybrids come in sets of six
irons and two hybrids – and are
available in three different options:
3H, 4H and 5-PW; 4H, 5H and
6-AW; and 4H, 5H and 6-SW. l
