Zachary Bauchou, of Forest, Va., earned his
first AJGA win following a record-setting, eight-hole playoff at the Cleveland HealthCare Foundation Junior. Giovana Maymon, of Huixquilucan,
Mexico, finished at 7-under-par 209 to win the
girls title at Deer Brook Golf Club in Shelby, N.C.
Chad Cox, of Charlotte, N.C., and Bauchou
finished the final round tied at 8 under. Bauchou
edged Cox with a tournament-clinching par on
the eighth playoff hole, which set an AJGA Boys
Division record for longest playoff. The previous
record was seven holes in 1999.
After a second-place finish at the Puerto
Rico Junior Open in January, Maymon gained
the experience she needed to earn her first
AJGA victory. Victoria Allred, of Pfafftown, N.C.,
finished second at 4-under par, while Kailey
Walsh, of Boca Raton, Fla., finished third at 3
under.
CELANO, PATRICK HEAT UP IN FLORIDA
Ryan Celano, of Naples, Fla., fired a final-round 69 to finish at 8-under-par 208 and win
the Under Armour/Steve Marino Junior All-Star Championship. Katharine Patrick, of West
University Place, Tex., finished at 3-under par
to win the girls title.
Birdies on two of his last three holes at the
Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club in Sarasota,
Fla., lifted Celano to a two-shot victory over
David Snyder, of McAllen, Tex.
Patrick led wire to wire for her first AJGA victory. Jamie Freedman, of Miami, finished second
at even par, while Isabella Skinner, of Cumming,
Ga., finished third at 4-over par.
RODRIGUEZ, MARKS ON TARGET
Nick Rodriguez, of Shrewsbury, Mass., won
the Deutsche Bank Partners for Charity Junior
Shoot Out with a 5-over-par 212, while Samantha
Marks, of Maitland, Fla., went wire to wire to take
the crown in the girls division at 16-over par.
Rodriguez erased a six-shot deficit by carding a final-round 68 at Plymouth Country Club
in Massachusetts, which helped him notch a
two-shot victory over Samuel Kim, of Irvine,
Calif., and Ben Balter, of Wayland, Mass.
Marks, who has verbally committed to UNC-Chapel Hill, notched her first AJGA victory by
edging Alexandra Hershberger ( 20 over), of
Basking Ridge, N.J., by four.
The American Junior Golf Association
