Albin Choi may be one of the biggest things to come out of Canadian golf since
Mike Weir. A sophomore at North Carolina State University, Choi had one of the
finest freshman seasons in program history. He posted a 71.53 scoring average
to lead the Atlantic Coast Conference, won two individual titles, tied the second-lowest 54-hole score in school history (13-under 203), and unanimously was
named the ACC Freshman of the Year. Two weeks ago, Choi, No. 66 in the World
Amateur Golf Ranking, started his summer schedule on a positive note when he
won the Monroe Amateur in a two-hole playoff.
