because he’s No. 1 right now on golf’s list
of “Phone Calls You Must Take.”
Euro superagent Chubby Chandler,
arguably the sport’s most powerful and
influential man, is even hotter than client
Rory McIlroy at the moment. And our

Adding insult Sunday to the injured
collective American golf ego was the
victory by Sweden’s Fredrik Jacobson on
the American Tour in Connecticut and the
runaway victory of Taiwan’s Yani Tseng in
the LPGA’s second major of the year in New
York. At the tender age of 22, Tseng already
has won four major championships.
Also of note was Sergio Garcia’s near-miss on the European Tour, where he lost
a five-hole playoff to countryman Pablo
Larrazabal in Germany. Garcia, who top-tenned at Congressional two Sundays ago, is
clearly coming out of his competitive slump.
The Yanks had to settle for their
consolation from teenager Patrick Cantlay,
the world’s No. 1-ranked amateur. The
19-year-old Cantlay was the low amateur at
the U. S. Open and followed that by carding
a Friday 60 on the PGA Tour for the 36-
hole lead at the Travelers Championship.
