HENLEY LEAPS IN WAGR
Russell Henley jumped 17 spots to No. 12 in
the World Amateur Golf Ranking on the heels
of his Nationwide Tour win in America. The top
nine spots remain unchanged, and Peter
Uihlein continues to enjoy a comfortable
margin over No. 2 Patrick Cantlay.
Ireland’s Stephanie Meadow climbed 12 spots
to No. 13 in the Women’s WAGR, and Australia’s
Ashlee Dewhurst leapt 20 spots to No. 14. Lydia
Ko continues as No. 1, ahead of fellow New Zealander Cecilia Cho.
HIGGINBOTTOM TOPS KEPERRA FIELD
Friday the 13th was anything but unlucky
for the hot Aussie golfer Jake Higginbottom,
who won the Keperra Bowl after completing a
2-under-par round of 70 at the Keperra Country Golf Club Friday.
Sitting on an three-shot overnight lead and
showing little sign of nerves through his opening holes, Higginbottom’s final round included
three birdies and an eagle to finish one shot
clear of the field on 15-under 273.
The 17-year-old has had a stellar run after
wining last week’s Queensland Amateur at
Arundel Hills Country Club.
