There’s no darkness to Tiger Woods’ new
advertisement for EA Sports, promoting the
company’s latest release, “Tiger Woods PGA
Tour 11.” Instead, Woods is shown in humorous
team situations normally not related to golf and
playing off the video game’s options for simulated Ryder Cup and other team competitions.

The ads, the first of which was released as a
video in The Wall Street Journal’s initial report,
include flyovers, cheerleaders and a pep talk
from Mike Ditka, the former Chicago Bears
football coach.
EA’s new campaign includes online-video
ads, according to WSJ, that will appear on sites
such as Facebook. The first prime-time commercial debuted Sunday during Game 2 of the
NBA Finals on ABC.
Tom Lehman, recent winner of the Senior
PGA Championship, will play in the Champions Tour Montreal Championship July 2-4 at
Club de golf Le Fontainebleau in Blainville,
Québec. David Frost and Fred Couples have
also committed.
George W. “Buster” Bryan, a founder of
both The Dunes Golf and Beach Club and
Caravelle Hotel and credited with creating the
Myrtle Beach golf package nearly 50 years ago,
and past PGA of America president Gary Schaal
were inducted last week into the Myrtle Beach
Golf Hall of Fame.
Manny Villegas, younger brother of the PGA
Tour’s Camilo Villegas, received a sponsor’s exemption into this week’s St. Jude Classic. It will
mark the first time the brothers have played in
the same PGA Tour event.
Mort Olman, a Cincinnati real-estate broker
who became one of golf’s most noteworthy collectors and dealers of books, fine art and other
memorabilia as well as an author on those
subjects, died May 9. He was 93.
