Drew Czuchry, of Auburn, Ga., held off a
strong final-round push from Cheng-Tsung Pan
to win the Boys 15-18 division at the 27th Scott
Robertson Memorial. Czuchry fired rounds of
67-68-69 to finish at 9-under-par 204, one shot
clear of Pan. Czuchry’s 36-hole lead on Roanoke
Country Club’s 6,506-yard layout nearly disap-
peared, but his efforts paid off in the end.
“That was my goal coming into Saturday. I had
the lead but one shot is not really anything,” he
. “I wanted to step on the
gas and see how far out front I could get.”
Pan, from Bradenton, Fla., stepped on the
throttle and fired a final-round 67 to nearly force
a playoff, but his three rounds of 68-70-67 landed
him a stroke out of a playoff at 8-under 205.
Jessica Korda, from Bradenton, Fla., carded
rounds of 68-70-69 for a 6-under 207 to win the
Girls 15-18 division by two strokes over McKenzie
Talbert, of North Augusta, S.C. Talbert tied Korda
for the 36-hole lead after she followed her first-
round 70 with a 68. But a final-round 71 landed
Talbert two strokes back at 4-under 209.
Chikka, however, couldn’t carry India to the
Boys team title, which was won by Thailand for
the third straight time. Thailand also completed a
third successive double by adding the Girls title.
Chikka started the final day with a three-shot
lead and pulled farther away with three birdies on
the front and added two more on the back nine.
Each team was allowed to nominate a maxi-
mum of four scoring players – of which the three
best count each day. Thailand, with Nattawat Su-
vajanakorn, Pariwat Pinsawat, Poom Saksansin
and Rattanon Wannasrichan, totaled 855. India,
with Chikka, Ashbeer Saini, Honey Baisoya and
Manu Gandas totaled 866.
Benyapa Niphatsophon, Pavarisa Yoktuan and
Pinrath Loomboonruang formed the winning Thai
girls team, which totaled 431 and edged Chinese
Taipei by one shot. India finished third at 442.
