Titleist’s Precocious Irons ( 5)
The Dish On Tiger’s Last Tournament ( 11)
Major
Developments
We will start here by pointing out
that Taiwan’s 21-year-old Yani Tseng,
who won the Kraft Nabisco Sunday,
now has won more LPGA majors than
Morgan Pressel, Michelle Wie, Natalie
Gulbis, Ai Miyazato and Paula Creamer
combined. Her total: Two.
We will advance the dimpled ball
by noting that Anthony Kim’s third victory on the PGA Tour, an overtime job
with Vaughn Taylor Sunday at the Shell
Houston Open, may have come with a
price. Kim has developed a bum thumb
and it might be a reason to short him
on any of your Masters’ bets before
The Tradition Unlike Any Other begins
Thursday in Georgia.
Now for the really important stuff;
OK, the stuff everybody will be talking
about today:
Tiger Woods showed up on the new
range at Augusta National at precisely
1:39 p.m. Sunday. He hit balls under the
watchful eye of caddie Steve Williams
and coach Hank Haney.
Then he wandered over to the
10th tee near where old friend Mark
O’Meara was coming off the ninth
green. They played the back nine.
O’Meara said he hadn’t seen Woods
in person since last July.
Today at 2 p.m. Woods will face the
media at Augusta. These two have not
seen each other in a while either. Their
meeting almost certainly won’t be
as friendly.
