Presidents Day weekend featured
two of the most prestigious champi-
onships on the American Junior Golf
Association schedule. In Reunion,
Fla., Annika Sorenstam hosted 72 of
the world’s best girls at the second
annual ANNIKA Invitational, while
78 boys competed in the HP Boys
Championship at Carlton Woods in
Woodlands, Tex.

after bogeying the 54th hole to miss
a playoff by one stroke, Bobby Wyatt,
of Mobile, Ala., earned redemption
by parring the final hole to secure a
wire-to-wire victory. Wyatt carded an
opening-round 65 and sprinted to a
three-shot lead, then battled windy
and cold weather before posting a
5-under-par 211 total.

Bradenton, Fla., is 15 years old and
already has two Rolex Junior Player
of the Year trophies, and a win at the
2010 ANNIKA Invitational is further
proof that she is one of the game’s
best junior players. A second-round
5-under-par 66 propelled Tanco to
a 5-under-par 211 finish for the 54
hole tournament and a three-shot
victory over Laetitia Beck, of Cae-
sarea, Israel.
“I’m very happy, I played really
well and it feels good to win another
Invitational,” said Tanco, who now has
four career AJGA victories. “It means a
lot because it’s such an honor to have
Annika sponsoring this tournament.”
Beck opened with a 68 and fol-
lowed with a 71 to share the 36-hole
lead with Tanco. Beck briefly claimed
a one-shot lead after Tanco bogeyed
No. 5, but Tanco responded with eight
consecutive pars and gained four
shots on Beck. The two traded birdies
on No. 14, but Tanco’s three-shot lead
proved to be insurmountable.
