There was a press conference after
the stylish Ian Poulter defeated Paul
Casey at the Match Play Sunday in
Arizona. And they even allowed reporters
to ask questions afterward. It was all
very liberating to pay attention to, and
analyze, actual golf.
The reaction to the Friday resurfacing
and subsequent statement from Tiger
Woods, meanwhile, was decidedly mixed.
But it was a first step. And everybody
says nobody does second chances like
America.
Chances are when Tiger returns to
golf, his defiant caddie, Steve Williams,
will be heckled more than Tiger will. And
chances are when the PGA Tour gets to
Phoenix this week, at a party/tournament
sponsored by Waste Management, that
there will be a lot of wasted people.
