Big Ten Match Play Championship
Heron Bay Golf Club, Coral Springs, Fla.
Northwestern swept Purdue in the title match to win the Big Ten Match Play Championship
at Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla. The bottom of the Wildcats’ lineup produced
dominating victories, with freshman Nick Losole leading the way with a 6-and- 5 romp over
Purdue’s David Gersztein. But it was redshirt junior David Lipsky who played the most con-
sistently, finishing the week 4-0. Sophomore Eric Chun stayed undefeated in his Big Ten
Match Play career, finishing 3-0-1 to improve to 7-0-1 overall.
Sun Trust Gator Invitational
Mark Bostick Golf Course at the University of Florida, Gainesville, Fla.
Florida won the Sun Trust Gator Invitational, dominating its own tournament, firing a
second straight 1-under-par 279 for a 1-over-par 841 total to win by 18 strokes. Florida
State finished second at 19-over 859. Junior Jonathan Randolph of Ole Miss took medalist
honors on the strength of a final-round 3-under 67 and finished at even-par 210, two shots
clear of LSU junior Andrew Loupe.
JU Invitational
TPC Sawgrass, Stadium Course, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
East Tennessee State won its first tournament of the 2009-10 season at the JU Invitation-
al. Played on the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, the Buccaneers finished at 29-over-
par 893, seven shots clear of second-place finisher Wake Forest. Sophmore Michael
Stewart led the Bucs with a T3 finish at 6-over 222. Medalist honors went to Brendan
Gielow, a Wake Forest senior, who carded rounds of 76-69-73 for a 2-over-par 218 total
and a one-shot victory over Charleston Southern University senior Kelvin Day.
USD Callaway Invitational
Farms Golf Club, Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
The University of San Diego won the USD Callaway Invitational at the Farms Golf Club
in Ranhco Santa Fe, Calif. The Toreros took the top spot on the strength of a final round
7-under-par 281 for a three-round total of 2-under-par 862, three shots ahead of
second-round leader Southern Methodist. Freshman Bhavik Patel from Fresno State
won medalist honors with an 8-under-par 208 (69-70-69). Torero sophmore Alex Ching
fired a final-round 69 to finish second at 5-under 211 (70-72-69).
